Which East Asian country would you guess? Korea? Japan? Of many of China’s neighbors, Taiwan has the fewest cases per capita of 23 million. As of March 10th, Taiwan has only 50 cases for an island just 81 miles off the coast of China. Taiwan was the first to become aware of the infection and it took a well organized approach to dealing with this infection. Some lessons we can learn: 1. inform the public, 2. have testing available, 3. take children’s temperature before they go to school. Hospitals do not allow visitors.
