It’s a lovely dress!

Recent discussion over whether a teenager wearing a mandarin dress as a prom dress has been hotly debated. I don’t think such a small gesture can so deeply ridicule a hugely diverse culture as the Chinese. The qipao as it is called is worn for many formal occasions. The only problem the young lady may have caused is that a red qipao is a Chinese wedding dress. Likewise, it would be funny to see a white wedding dress with a full train make its appearance at a prom. As long as her prom date doesn’t think they are getting married, the young lady has worn the qipao well.
