Birds and Blossoms in Chinese Art (online)

Join educator Yvonne Wolf for a virtual exploration of a popular classical East Asian art motif: birds and blossoms. Colorful peony flowers and landscape paintings frequently decorate the walls of Chinese restaurants. Plum blossoms and birds are printed onto Chinese take-out boxes. The motifs of flowers and birds, animals and trees, and landscapes (mountains and water) communicate far more than their surface aesthetics. These paintings communicate prosperity and fulfillment in a highly balanced relationship.
